About the Artist

Annell L Metsker, known professionally as Annell, combines photography and painting to create images that evoke the soul of her subjects and portray mood and emotion visually. Whether she is creating a portrait, landscape or figurative work of art she is able to use the beauty and mystery of light and shadow, and the rhythm of motion to captivate the viewers attention.  She works intuitively with her subjects to reveal beauty and authenticity in her art. Whether you are looking for a photographic portrait or a painting of your children, family, pets or a favorite travel image Annell will create a work of art that captures their true essence.
 Annell finds her creative muse in her home on Lake Glenville, near Cashiers and Highlands, NC where the peacefulness and energy of 
the mountains inspire her paintings. Her portrait studio in Charlotte, NC , specializing in heirloom portraits of children and families, has been named Best of Charlotte Photographers for the last 4 years. Her art is exhibited at Blue Valley Gallery in Cashiers, Tsartistry and Gallery of Gems in Franklin, NC  and has pride of place in many private collections across the US.
 Annell has received many state, regional and national awards. Named "Photographer Of the Year" by Professional Photographers of NC in 1995 and again in 1999, she has received many first place awards in the categories of pictorial, groups, illustrative and women. She has exhibited prints in the general and loan collection of Professional Photographers of America. Annell has been honored with Kodak Gallery, Kodak Epcot, and Fuji Masterpiece awards for her excellence in photography. She was awarded the Master of Photography Degree by PPA in 1995 for superior photographic competence and the Photographic Craftsmen Degree in 2000 for  teaching her expertise in the areas of impressionistic beach portraiture and window light portraiture to other professionals. She has exhibited and been published with Amsterdam Whitney Gallery in New York City, The Rangefinder, The Rainbow, PPA Magazine and  The Laurel Magazine.   She has studied with some of the most renowned photographers and artists in the US and Europe and continues her studies in her dedication to creating innovative portraits for her clients.
